Also in the protected marine area of the Sinis, we find San Giovanni, a small village that houses an historical-architectural jewel of inestimable value, where you can breathe an air of spiritual peace. It is the small early Christian church of San Giovanni carved with particular shapes.
The first construction dates back to the Byzantine period, in the middle of the 6th century, the country church stands on a small cemetery with pagan origins: the features are of Punic and then Christian necropolis. The sunlight penetrates dimly from an octagonal window that enhances the contrast between internal darkness and bright facade.
Proceeding along the road surrounded by parking lots, bars and restaurants, you can see in the distance the tower of San Giovanni, one of the two coastal towers of the area, which dominates the archaeological area from over 50 meters above the enchanting beach of San Giovanni, fine white sand that plunges into the turquoise sea.
